BBClone ist ein Web Counter und sammelt darüber hinaus die üblichen Informationen über die Besucher einer Seite (Betriebssystem, Browser, Referer und so weiter). Es geht einen guten Mittelweg zwischen einfacher Handhabung und Funktionsvielfalt, ist in PHP geschrieben, natürlich kostenlos, und seit gestern hier installiert.

Als ich gerade “Referer” bei LEO nachschlug, bin ich auf das hier gestoßen:

This word has a funny history, in that very clearly the correct spelling is ‘referrer’, reduplicating the final ‘r’ of ‘refer’ like any similar English verb accented on the last syllable and ending in similar fashion (C-shortV-C) would do.

Some dork when working on the http protocol decided to call one of the fields ‘http-referer’ unfortunately. People have done double-takes about this ever since, but it’s part of the protocol now, and too many programs would have to be changed so the misspelling cannot be altered now.
